Unico Travel is founded by Barbara de Groot, from the Netherlands.
Barbara has worked as a tour leader in Nicaraqua, Costa Rica and Panama and has since lived in Puerto Jimenez, a village close to the national park of Corcovado. During her time there, she has developed a great passion for the countries in this part of the World and has set up Unico Travel to enable her to share her experience and enjoyment with other people. Nicaraqua, Costa Rica and Panama are such special countries, and Barbara hopes that you can also experience have the special feel of these countries when you visit. Barbara’s local experience means that she knows the best locations, tours and possibilities in these countries. She also knows a lot of people and has a lot of contacts, so that you can be sure you’ll get some good advice!

Because Barbara´s sister, Brenda, is living in Oaxaca Mexico, Unico Travel also offers the destinations Oaxaca and Chiapas in Mexico. These two provinces are located in the south of Mexico and are unique destinations to discover. We offer these two destinations as they are unique, divers and because we have many good local contacts to be able to offer a well-organized and different holiday. You can easily spend two months and still not have enough time to see all the beauty of these two provinces of Mexico. The old cultures of the Maya´s and Zapotecs are still recognizable in the people, their traditions and the landscape. Oaxaca is rich with culture and has beautiful beaches. Chiapas has one of the most divers nature in the world.

Unico Travel´s goal is next to bring you to different destinations, also to give you enough time to let you experience the culture and nature. Experiencing means taking more time to enjoy and we are sure by taking more time you will enjoy and experience more and this way you will know and get more in contact with the local people and their culture. As a result when organizing our trips we do not only consider seeing as much places as possible but are experiencing these places and helping the local environment more important motives. We offer for example cooking workshops with an oaxacan woman in her kitchen and will you spend time with many different local guides.
